Born in Taebaek, South Korea, Master Shin began training in Taekwondo at the age of 7 and earned his black belt by the age of 11. At 15, he started teaching as an instructor in his local dojang, where he decided to pursue Taekwondo as his career.

In 2012, Master Shin was selected for an official Kukkiwon internship program, which allowed him to teach Taekwondo in the United States for the first time. After completing the internship, he decided to gain more experience in the U.S. and ultimately chose to immigrate.
In 2014, after earning his bachelor’s degree, he moved to Virginia, where he worked as a Head Master. In 2018, he relocated to Brooklyn, New York, to continue his work as a Head Master. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Master Shin decided to open his own dojang, founding Broadway Taekwondo in 2022.
In addition to Taekwondo, Master Shin is passionate about jump rope, nunchucks, and bo staff, and incorporates these into his classes. He enjoys outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, longboarding, and cycling, and regularly plays table tennis.
Master Shin currently resides on the Upper West Side in NY with his wife and their cat, Aong.
