Hello! I’m James Beatty, a Kukkiwon‑certified third‑degree black belt who began his Taekwondo journey with the MIT Sport Taekwondo Club during college. After graduation, I continued training at Yoo’s Martial Arts in Virginia, earning both my black belt and, later, my 3rd Dan under 9th‑Dan Grandmaster Jun Saeng Yoo. Now in New York for over 10 years, I’m preparing for my 4th Dan test under Master Shin at Broadway Taekwondo. I’m especially happy for the opportunity to train, teach, and grow alongside our students—particularly the kids—while sharing the discipline, respect, and perseverance that have made Taekwondo such a rewarding lifelong practice.

Hi I’m Instructor Tiffany.
I’ve been teaching taekwondo for about 10 years. My love for teaching stems from the joy of my students enjoying my classes. I have taken breaks from taekwondo to peruse my career goals but I always miss it too much. Working at Broadway Taekwondo part time allows me to focus on my career goals and still teach what I love.
Besides taekwondo, I have been tutoring since 2021 and a home bakery for fun. I am on path to graduate May 2026 with an Elementary Education Degree and Quantitative Economic Degree. After graduation I hope to start teaching in a classroom setting right away. Gaining experience and earning a Master Degree in Leadership Education in hopes to have an administration role in the school system.

My name is Cecilia, and I have been studying Taekwondo for 10 years. I am a 3rd dan black belt and earned my instructor badge 4 years ago. I enjoy teaching TKD and sharing the martial arts philosophy with other students. I moved into New York City recently to study Classical Voice at Manhattan School of Music as a freshman undergraduate. I grew up in New Jersey, and I have a dog who is a Shih Tzu-Yorkie mix!

Hello, my name is Biko Yoon. I began practicing Taekwondo when I was in kindergarten, but I had to stop after earning my yellow belt because my previous school closed. I joined Broadway Taekwondo in 2023 and earned my 1st Dan in 2025.
I live in Harlem and attend Booker T. Washington Middle School, which is very close to Broadway Taekwondo. My elementary school was also nearby, so I have always felt comfortable in this neighborhood.
My mom is Korean, and practicing Taekwondo helps me stay connected to my culture. I can understand Korean fairly well, although I am not fluent. Training at Broadway Taekwondo has helped me feel more comfortable speaking Korean.
I have competed in three Taekwondo tournaments and plan to participate in more in the future. I especially enjoyed the Kukkiwon competition I took part in a few months ago. Outside of Taekwondo, I also enjoy volleyball and calisthenics.
My goal in Taekwondo is to practice more consistently at home and continue getting stronger. My long-term goal is to earn my 6th Dan and, hopefully, progress even further.

Hi. My name is Sureyya.
I live in NYC. I started at Broadway Taekwondo in 2023. I have a hairless guinea pig named Pepper and a dog named Scout.I am currently a red belt and am working to test into a poom belt.
Currently, my favorite part of Taekwondo is poomse, and I especially like numbers eight and five. I like poomse because it requires you to have the correct steps while still personalizing it.
As a junior assistant, I enjoy helping other students with their stances and I feel I am setting a good example.
Outside of Taekwondo, I like reading and school. My favorite author is “Rick Riordan”, my favorite book is “Song for a Whale”, and my favorite book series is “York”.

Hi! My name is Abigail, but you can call me Abby. I’m from the Upper West Side of New York City. I started Taekwondo in 2022, and I earned my poom belt in 2024. In 2025, I became a junior assistant, which has been so much fun!
My favorite part of Taekwondo is doing poomsae. Right now, my favorite one is Taeguk 8 Jang. I’ve competed in the New York International Championships in Queens twice, and I won gold medals in poomsae! I want to keep joining tournaments and work hard to become a great athlete.
Right now, I’m training for my black belt promotion. My big dream in Taekwondo is to become a Master one day.
As a junior assistant, I really enjoy helping my friends—holding targets and boards, and helping them with their poomsae.
Outside of Taekwondo, I love outdoor activities like running and playing badminton. I also enjoy drawing and making origami!

Hi! My name is Ella. I started Taekwondo at Broadway Taekwondo in 2022. In 2025, I earned my poom belt, and now I’m training hard for my next goal — the black belt!
In 2025, I also joined the Leadership Team. I help the instructors and support other students, especially the younger ones. I love helping them with their targets and memorizing hard poomsae. It makes me feel proud and happy. One day, I want to become an awesome instructor too!
My favorite part of Taekwondo is practicing poomsae. I like learning all the moves and training again and again to make them look even cooler. Right now, I’m focusing on Taegeuk 8, and I think it’s the most exciting one so far!
Outside of Taekwondo, I love outdoor activities like running, swimming, and gymnastics. I also really enjoy collecting stickers — especially cute ones! It’s fun to trade and share them with my friends. Oh, and one more thing… I LOVE ramen!
